"It all started when I was about five," Farah recalls, a twinkle in her eye. "I thought it would be fun to hide the ducky in the deepest part of the pool."
But Farah had underestimated the ducky's buoyancy. It bobbed up to the surface like a defiant beacon, laughing at her futile attempts to keep it captive.
"I kept diving down, trying to grab it, but it always outsmarted me," Farah says, giggling. "It was like a ducky game of cat and mouse!"
Water Wars with Big Sis
Farah's backyard pool wasn't just a place for rubber ducky adventures. It was also the epicenter of water wars with her older sister, Lisa.
"Lisa was always the bigger, faster swimmer," Farah admits. "But I had my secret weapon: water guns!"
Armed with an arsenal of water toys, the Schoenmakers sisters would engage in intense battles that left them soaked to the bone.
"We'd create water slides with the hose, and I'd try to splash Lisa off her perch," Farah remembers. "Sometimes, we'd even have water balloon fights. It was pure chaos, but oh so much fun!"
The Birth of a Swimmer
From those early days of backyard shenanigans, Farah Schoenmakers' love for water blossomed into a burning passion for swimming.
"I started swimming lessons when I was six," Farah says. "I loved the feeling of gliding through the water. It was like I was flying!"
As she grew older, Farah's talent became undeniable. She joined a competitive swimming club and quickly rose through the ranks.
