Fianna Fail manifesto 2024: A vision for the future
Fianna Fail has unveiled its manifesto for the 2024 general election, promising a range of policies to improve the lives of Irish people.
The manifesto, entitled "A vision for the future," sets out the party's plans for the next five years, including measures to:
- Increase investment in public services, such as healthcare, education, and transport.
- Create new jobs and support businesses.
- Protect the environment and tackle climate change.
- Build a more inclusive and just society.
Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin said the manifesto was a "bold and ambitious" plan to build a better future for Ireland.
"We have a strong track record of delivering for the Irish people," Martin said. "And we have the experience and the vision to lead Ireland into a new era of prosperity and progress."
The manifesto is divided into three main sections:
- "A fairer society" sets out the party's plans to improve the lives of ordinary Irish people, including measures to increase wages, reduce taxes, and make housing more affordable.
- "A stronger economy" sets out the party's plans to create jobs, support businesses, and invest in infrastructure.
- "A sustainable future" sets out the party's plans to protect the environment and tackle climate change.
The manifesto also includes a number of specific commitments, such as:
- Increasing the minimum wage to €12 per hour.
- Reducing the USC by 1%.
- Building 100,000 new homes by 2025.
- Investing €5 billion in public transport.
- Planting 1 million trees by 2025.
The manifesto has been welcomed by some commentators, who say it is a "positive and ambitious" plan for the future of Ireland. However, others have criticized the manifesto, saying it is "unrealistic" and "lacks ambition."
The manifesto is likely to be a major focus of debate in the run-up to the general election, which is due to be held in early 2024.
