Flood warnings NSW

As the rain continues to fall across New South Wales, flood warnings have been issued for several rivers and catchments, including the Hawkesbury-Nepean, Colo, and Georges rivers. The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that >major flooding is possible< in these areas, and residents have been advised to prepare for evacuation.

The Hawkesbury-Nepean River is expected to reach major flood levels at North Richmond on Thursday morning, and could exceed the levels not seen since the devastating floods of March 2021.

The Colo River at Upper Colo is also expected to reach major flood levels on Thursday morning, and the Georges River at Liverpool could reach major flood levels on Friday morning.

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) has urged residents in flood-prone areas to stay informed and prepare for possible evacuation. SES Commissioner Carlene York said that residents should be aware of the risks and take steps to protect themselves and their property.

"We urge everyone to stay informed about the latest weather warnings and to prepare for possible evacuation," Ms York said. "If you are asked to evacuate, please do so immediately."

The SES has also warned that the flooding could cause significant damage to infrastructure and property. Residents should be prepared for power outages and road closures.

"This is a serious situation and we urge everyone to take it seriously," Ms York said. "Please stay safe and follow the advice of the emergency services."
