Andie MacDowell is an American actress, model, and spokesperson. She is best known for her breakout role as Andie Walsh in the 1990 romantic comedy Green Card, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. She has since starred in a number of films, including Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), and Magic Mike XXL (2015).

MacDowell was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. She began her career as a fashion model in the early 1980s, appearing in advertisements for Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, and Armani. She made her film debut in 1984 in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. She went on to star in a number of films throughout the 1980s, including St. Elmo's Fire (1985), Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), and Groundhog Day (1993).

MacDowell's breakthrough role came in 1990 when she starred opposite Gérard Depardieu in the romantic comedy Green Card. She played Andie Walsh, a young American woman who agrees to marry a French man in order to help him obtain a green card. The film was a critical and commercial success, and MacDowell was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance.

Since Green Card, MacDowell has starred in a number of films, including Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), and Magic Mike XXL (2015). She has also appeared in television series such as Desperate Housewives and Cedar Cove.

MacDowell has been married three times. She was married to Paul Qualley from 1986 to 1999. They have three children together. She was then married to Rhett Hartzog from 2001 to 2004. She is currently married to Kevin Geagan.

MacDowell is an active philanthropist. She is a supporter of the American Cancer Society and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She is also a spokesperson for the National Eating Disorders Association.
