Gavin McKenna!
Gavin McKenna is a Scottish actor, best known for his roles as Stuart "Woody" Wood in the BBC soap opera EastEnders and Rocky Cartwright in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street.
Early life and career
McKenna was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on 2 March 1963. He attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and began his acting career in the theatre. In 1988, he made his television debut in the BBC drama series Taggart.
EastEnders
McKenna joined the cast of EastEnders in 1994, playing the role of Stuart "Woody" Wood, a market trader and close friend of Steve Owen (Martin Kemp). Woody quickly became a popular character, known for his cheeky chappy persona and his love of football. McKenna left the show in 2003, but he returned for a brief stint in 2009.
Coronation Street
In 2010, McKenna joined the cast of Coronation Street, playing the role of Rocky Cartwright, a taxi driver and love interest for Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox). Rocky was a complex character, with a troubled past and a tendency to get into scrapes. McKenna left the show in 2013, but he returned for a guest appearance in 2015.
Other projects
In addition to his work on EastEnders and Coronation Street, McKenna has appeared in a number of other television shows, including The Bill, Casualty, and Holby City. He has also starred in several films, including Small Faces (1996) and The Acid House (1998).
Personal life
McKenna is married to the actress Jennifer James. The couple have one daughter.
McKenna is a keen supporter of Celtic FC and has appeared in several charity matches for the club. He is also a patron of the Scottish Association for Mental Health.
