What's 10cm long, has a head at one end, eats what it's given and makes a mess?
A pencil!
Have you ever wondered why pencils are so frustratingly short?
I think I know the answer:
A pencil is 10cm long because that's the length of the wood that the average person can comfortably hold in their hand.
The head is made of graphite, which is a soft mineral that is used to make pencil marks.
Pencils are used for writing, drawing, and sketching.

So next time you find yourself getting frustrated with a short pencil, remember that it's probably just the right size for your hand!

But what about the mess that pencils make? That's another story.
Graphite is a very fine powder, and it can easily get all over your hands and clothes.
To avoid this, you can use a pencil sharpener to keep your pencil point sharp.
This will help to reduce the amount of graphite dust that is produced.

Even with a sharp pencil, you're still likely to make a mess.
But that's okay!
Pencils are meant to be used, and they're not meant to be perfect.
So go ahead, make a mess, and enjoy the creative process!
