One night, Gijs Semrow's parents went out, and he was left home alone. He was sitting in the living room, watching TV, when the power went out. It was pitch black, and Gijs Semrow was all alone.
At first, Gijs Semrow was scared. He couldn't see anything, and he didn't know what was going to happen. But then he remembered something that his father had told him.
"When you're afraid of the dark," his father had said, "just close your eyes and imagine that you're in a safe place."
So Gijs Semrow closed his eyes and imagined that he was in his bed, with his teddy bear next to him. He imagined that he was warm and cozy, and that nothing could scare him.
And it worked! Gijs Semrow wasn't afraid of the dark anymore. He knew that he was safe, and that he could always imagine himself in a safe place if he was ever scared.
The next day, Gijs Semrow told his parents what had happened. They were very proud of him, and they told him that he was a very brave boy.
Gijs Semrow never forgot what his father had told him, and he never let the dark scare him again.
The End
