Good Friday message

I sat shivering in the cold air, my body aching from the days that I had walked.

I could feel the wounds on my body and face pulsating with pain. I had been whipped, beaten, and mocked by the Roman soldiers who had arrested me.

I knew that the end was near.

I had been accused of blasphemy and sedition, and the Jewish leaders had condemned me to death.

I had tried to tell them that I was the Son of God, but they would not believe me.

Instead, they had handed me over to the Roman governor, Pilate, who had sentenced me to crucifixion.

I had carried my own cross to Golgotha, the place of the skull, where I was to be executed.

As I hung there on the cross, I could hear the people taunting me.

"If you are the Son of God," they said, "come down from the cross."

But I knew that I had to stay there.

I had come to die for the sins of the world.

I had come to pay the price for their rebellion against God.

And I was determined to do it.

As I hung there, I prayed to my Father.

"Father," I said, "forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Then I bowed my head and breathed my last.

But my death was not the end.

On the third day, I rose from the dead.

I had conquered death and hell.

And I had opened the way for all people to be reconciled to God.

On this Good Friday, I invite you to reflect on the meaning of my death and resurrection.

I invite you to come to me and be forgiven of your sins.

I invite you to experience the new life that I have come to give you.

For I am the way, the truth, and the life.

And no one comes to the Father except through me.
