Grid refrences

This website is a quick guide to grid referances. You use grid referances when you are trying to find something on a map like a town or building.The grid lines on an OS  map going along the grid are called Eastings and the lines going down are called Northings. 

four-figure grid references

when you are reading a grid look dow where the nubers are and look along and the two nubers you are looking at are the numbers of the point.

six-figure grid references

find a more specific point on the map you look along the side of the map and divide the square into tens. just like a chart, you can read the exact point.
