Have You Joined the Earth Overshoot Movement?

Are we overshooting the Earth's resources?

  • By October 5th of every year, we consume more than Earth can give us in that calendar year.
  • We're using up a year's worth of the Earth's budget in just 295 days.
  • If everyone lived like Americans, we would need 5 Earths to sustain our consumption.

What are the impacts of overshooting the Earth's resources?

  • It has drastic effects on our environment, such as rising emissions, global warming, plastic pollution, and resource scarcity.
  • Increased risk of pandemics as human activity gets closer to wildlife and disturbs their natural habitats.
  • Food shortages and price inflation due to the increasing demand and uneven distribution of resources.

What can we do as individuals?

  • Join the Earth Overshoot Movement.
  • Calculate your ecological footprint.
  • Reduce your consumption of natural resources.
  • Reuse and recycle more.
  • Buy less, and buy sustainable products.
  • Support companies that are working towards sustainability.
  • Spread awareness about the issue.

It's not too late. We can still turn things around and move towards a more sustainable future. It will take collective action, but it is possible. Together, we can conserve the Earth's resources and ensure a brighter future for generations to come.
