Heng Swee Keat is a Singaporean politician who has served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore since 2019 and the Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies since 2018. He is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for the East Coast Group Representation Constituency (GRC) since 2011.
Heng was born in Singapore in 1961. He graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Master of Arts degree in economics and from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University with a Master in Public Administration degree.
After graduating from Harvard, Heng worked as a civil servant in various ministries, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of the Monetary Authority of Singapore from 2005 to 2011.
In 2011, Heng was elected to Parliament as an MP for the East Coast GRC. He was appointed Minister for Education in 2011 and Minister for Finance in 2015. In 2018, he was appointed Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies. In 2019, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister.

Heng is a member of the People's Action Party (PAP). He is considered to be a moderate conservative. He has been a vocal supporter of free trade and globalization. He has also been a strong advocate for education and skills development.
