Here's the Story of Yovonda Vero, the Girl Who Couldn't Sleep
Have you ever heard of Yovonda Vero? She was the girl who couldn't sleep. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't drift off to sleep.
One night, Yovonda was so tired that she could barely keep her eyes open. But as soon as she lay down in bed, her mind started racing. She thought about all the things she had to do the next day, and about all the things that could go wrong.
She tossed and turned for hours, but sleep wouldn't come. Finally, she gave up and got out of bed. She went downstairs and found her mom in the kitchen.
"Mom, I can't sleep," she said.
Her mom smiled. "I know, honey. I was just like you when I was a little girl. But I found a way to fall asleep."
"What did you do?" Yovonda asked.
"I counted sheep," her mom said. "It's really boring, but it works."
Yovonda didn't think counting sheep would work, but she decided to try it anyway. She went back to her room and lay down in bed. She started counting sheep.
One...two...three...four...five...
Yovonda kept counting until she reached one hundred. But she still wasn't asleep.
She tried counting backwards. One hundred...ninety-nine...ninety-eight...ninety-seven...
But that didn't work either.
Yovonda was starting to get frustrated. She didn't know what else to do.
All of a sudden, she had an idea. She got out of bed and went to the window. She looked up at the stars.
The stars were so beautiful. They twinkled and shimmered like tiny diamonds. Yovonda started to feel calm. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
She imagined herself floating among the stars. She felt light and free. She felt her eyelids growing heavy.
Slowly but surely, Yovonda drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Yovonda woke up feeling refreshed and energized. She had finally found a way to fall asleep!
She told her mom about her new trick, and her mom was so happy. She said that Yovonda could teach her trick to other kids who had trouble sleeping.
Yovonda was so excited. She couldn't wait to help other kids fall asleep. She knew that if she could help them, they would feel better and be able to do their best in school.
Yovonda Vero, the girl who couldn't sleep, had found her purpose in life. She was going to help other kids get the sleep they needed to succeed.
