Early Sunday morning, a man was stabbed to death at a house party near Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong. Police were called to the scene at 4am and found the victim, a 20-year-old man, lying unresponsive on the ground. He had been stabbed in the chest and died at the scene.
The party was attended by around 100 people, and police believe the victim was stabbed during an altercation that broke out between two groups of people.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about the stabbing to come forward.
The incident has shocked the local community, and residents are expressing their concerns about the level of violence in the area.
“This is a tragedy,” said one resident. “It’s heartbreaking to think that a young man has lost his life in such a senseless way.”
Another resident said: “I’m worried about the safety of my family. I don’t want my children growing up in an area where there is so much violence.”
Police are urging people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to them immediately.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
