Holiday season

One of my cherished holiday season memories is the year my mother and I decided to make our own Christmas tree.
My family has always been pretty DIY, and my mother is always coming up with creative new holiday crafts during the season. One year, she had the idea to use her collection of colorful vintage costume jewelry and beads to build a tree on one of our bedroom walls.
I was immediately on board. We covered a large piece of cardboard with green felt and spread a variety of lights across it. Then we began designing our tree. My mother attached a large, flashy ring as the "star" at the top and worked her way down, attaching beads and brooches at various angles. I helped her decide where to place each piece and had a blast selecting pieces that were bright and shiny.
I remember being so proud of our creation when it was finished that I asked my mother if we could keep it up all year.
That Christmas was over 20 years ago, and my mother has since attached the tree to a wooden board and hung it in her living room. It is my favorite piece of Christmas decor, and I can't imagine the holiday season without it.
