Rosebell Sadurni was oh so bored. It was the last day before school started, and her friends were all away on vacations. She had already read all the books in her room, and she didn't feel like playing with her toys. There was nothing left to do! She sighed and sat down on the couch, watching the clock tick away. Just then, she heard a noise outside her window.
She got up and peeked out. There, in her neighbor's yard, was a little boy sitting on the ground. He was holding his knee and crying. Rosebell went out to see what was wrong.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"I fell off my bike," the boy said. "I think I scraped my knee."
Rosebell looked at the boy's knee. It was red and bleeding. She went inside and got a Band-Aid. She gently cleaned the boy's knee and put the Band-Aid on it.
"There you go," she said. "All better now." The boy smiled. "Thank you," he said.
"You're welcome," Rosebell said.
The boy stood up and looked at Rosebell. "My name is Tommy," he said.
"I'm Rosebell," she said.
"It's nice to meet you, Rosebell," Tommy said. "Can we play?"
"Sure," Rosebell said.
Rosebell and Tommy played in the backyard for hours. They played hide-and-seek, tag, and catch. They even made up their own game called "Superhero Obstacle Course." By the time Tommy's mom called him home for dinner, they were both tired and happy.
As Tommy was leaving, he turned to Rosebell and said, "Thanks for playing with me, Rosebell. I had a lot of fun."
"You're welcome, Tommy," Rosebell said. "I had fun too."
Tommy smiled and waved goodbye. Rosebell waved back and watched him go. She was glad she had gone outside to see what was wrong. She had made a new friend and had a lot of fun. The day didn't seem so boring anymore.
Rosebell went inside and told her mom about Tommy. Her mom smiled and said, "That's wonderful, Rosebell. I'm glad you made a new friend."
Rosebell smiled back. She was glad too.
The next day, Rosebell went outside to play. She was hoping to see Tommy, but he wasn't there. Rosebell was disappointed, but she didn't give up. She kept going outside every day, hoping to see him again.
One day, Rosebell was playing in the backyard when she heard a noise. She looked up and saw Tommy standing at the fence. He was waving at her.
"Hi, Rosebell," Tommy said.
"Hi, Tommy," Rosebell said. "I'm so glad to see you."
"I'm glad to see you too," Tommy said. "Can we play?"
"Of course," Rosebell said.
Rosebell and Tommy played together every day after that. They became best friends.
One day, Rosebell and Tommy were playing in the backyard when they saw a group of older boys picking on a smaller boy. The smaller boy was crying.
"Let him go," Rosebell said.
"Why should we?" one of the older boys said.
"Because it's not nice to pick on someone who is smaller than you," Rosebell said.
"So?" the older boy said.
"So, it's just not nice," Rosebell said.
The older boy looked at Rosebell for a moment. Then he turned and walked away. The other older boys followed him.
"Are you okay?" Rosebell asked the smaller boy.
"Yes," the boy said. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Rosebell said.
"My name is Peter," the boy said.
"I'm Rosebell," she said. "And this is Tommy."
"It's nice to meet you," Peter said.
"It's nice to meet you too," Rosebell said.
Rosebell and Tommy played with Peter for the rest of the afternoon. They had a lot of fun. Peter was glad that Rosebell and Tommy had stood up for him. He knew that he had made two new friends.
Rosebell and Tommy continued to stand up for what they believed in. They stood up for the little guy, the underdog, and the ones who were being bullied. They knew that it wasn't always easy, but they did it anyway. They were the heroes of their own story.
And they all lived happily ever after.
