A Letter from 2099
Dear 2020,
I am writing from the year 2099. I know the year has just begun but it's been a rough start to the year. As from what I learned many things have happened with climate change. The world is heating up from greenhouse gases as a result of the ice caps melting and sea levels are rising. Well now in 2099, 75% of those ice caps are gone due to climate change and the sea level is higher than it is in 2020, but that is nothing new since everyone expected that to happen and decided not to do anything to prevent it. With sea levels rising many small islands that are placed around the world are now flooded due to the sea levels. People living in the year 2099 don’t even know some of them because they have been flooded for such a long time. It's hard to come back to 2020 and see what the world used to be and how it changed over the years due to the population.
The climate change is taking a toll on the world as I learned in school California was on fire for a while due to the climate. This weather is taking a toll on the country. Many people and animals were affected due to this fire and now the same thing is happening in Australia as you can see. Most of the country is shocked by what has happened, but Australia is recovering perfectly by the amount of people that donated. There are so many people who are aware of climate change and are scared of what is going to happen in the future. People that are realizing what is happening are wanting to make a change and I can see that change.
Our nature is slowly dying due to people not taking care of the earth. Trees produce our oxygen and these trees are being cut down because houses and many other things are being built. Without the tress how are we supposed to breathe properly, So I kindly suggest cutting back on cutting down the trees. Our vegetables and fruits are now processed chemically and most of it is not being produced in the ground due to wanting to have land to build things. Nobody seems to notice because they are the one supporting the ways they are grown from. All the food we eat is processed. We don't eat much food grown from the ground. Those that are grown from the ground are crazy expensive and not many people can afford to buy the organic verierson. People support these changes and those big companies are letting famous people promote the product to convince their followers to buy the food and the company's benefits from it. If yall can save the land and promote the organic side of the fruits and vegetables we wont so many processed food and it the food will be real, fresh and healthy for us.
Technology is way more advanced than what it used to be in 2020, it's three times more advanced. With a lot of research and investing money and time, all I can say is that it's everywhere. For example, there is an abundant amount of self driving cars and people invested money and time to build robots to do many tasks. There is technology that is used to cure any form of sickness. Many people have abandoned the pen and paper and are now using technology in their everyday life. I'm starting to believe in the next few years we won't be required to write anything because everything will be on your phone or computer. I have no complaints about the way technology is advancing because I am learning a lot more, but sometimes I wish we still have paper where we can write.
Changes need to happen fast. There is still time to fix the future, if you don’t then many things will be forgotten such as paper and nobody will ever remember what the world used to be like in the early 2000s. Even in the future, humans are not perfect and will make similar mistakes that you did, but we will like to see things change so we won't have to worry about fixing it and we will know how to fix those mistakes, so start telling your children and everyone else to start worrying about fixing the world and what it's going to look like in the future because I hate for people to live in regret in not fixing the world.
We hope you can see what is happening to the world and you can fix it.
Best regards,
2099
