Inter Miami CF Give Montréal A Gift

  • Talisman DP Gonzalo Higuain is gone.
  • The rest of his Designated Players are severely underperforming.
  • The team is the worst in the league defensively.

Okay, that may have been a little too harsh, but the fact of the matter is that Inter Miami CF have been one of the league's most disappointing teams for much of their existence.

They are likely to extend their futility this weekend when they visit Nashville SC on Saturday night. Nashville is in good form, having won their past two matches, and they will be looking to take advantage of Inter Miami's defensive frailties.

Inter Miami have conceded a league-high 34 goals in 16 games this season. They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their past 10 matches.

Their struggles at the back are undoubtedly related to the departure of talisman DP Gonzalo Higuain, who left the club in March. Higuain was a key figure for Inter Miami, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists in 26 games. He was also a leader in the locker room and on the field.

Without Higuain, Inter Miami have looked lost at times. Their other two DPs, Rodolfo Pizarro and Blaise Matuidi, have been severely underperforming. Pizarro has just 2 goals and 3 assists in 14 games, while Matuidi has been injured for most of the season.

Inter Miami's struggles have been compounded by a lack of depth. They have very few players who can come off the bench and make a difference.

As a result, Inter Miami are in danger of missing the playoffs for the third time in three years. They are currently ninth in the Eastern Conference, seven points behind the seventh and final playoff spot.

With just 10 games remaining in the regular season, Inter Miami need to start winning games soon if they want to have any chance of making the playoffs. However, given their current form, it is difficult to see how they will be able to do that.
