IPL 2025 Retention: What to Expect




The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most popular and lucrative cricket leagues in the world. Every year, teams are allowed to retain a certain number of players before the auction. The IPL 2025 retention rules are expected to be announced soon.
Based on information available so far, it is expected that each team will be allowed to retain a maximum of five players. These players can be a combination of capped and uncapped players. Capped players are those who have represented India in international cricket. Uncapped players are those who have not represented India in international cricket.
It is also expected that the retention price for capped players will be higher than the retention price for uncapped players. The exact retention prices are yet to be announced by the BCCI.
Here are some of the players who could be retained by their respective teams ahead of the IPL 2025 season:
* Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan
* Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Chahar, Shivam Dube
* Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel
* Kolkata Knight Riders: Shreyas Iyer, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav
* Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, Ravi Bishnoi, Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda
These are just a few of the players who could be retained by their respective teams. The final list of retained players will be announced by the BCCI in due course.
The IPL 2025 retention rules are expected to be announced soon. Once the rules are announced, teams will have a limited time to submit their list of retained players. The IPL 2025 auction is expected to be held in December 2024.
