Ipswich Town vs Leicester City: A tale of two penalties
Ipswich Town and Leicester City played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon, with both goals coming from the penalty spot.
The Foxes took the lead through James Maddison in the first half, but the Tractor Boys equalised through Luke Woolfenden after the break.
Ipswich started the brighter of the two sides, and they had a great chance to take the lead in the opening minutes when Conor Chaplin was brought down in the area by Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward. However, Chaplin's penalty was saved by Ward.
Leicester grew into the game as the half wore on, and they took the lead in the 35th minute when Maddison converted a penalty of his own after he was fouled by Ipswich defender George Edmundson.
The visitors came close to doubling their lead shortly before half-time, but Harvey Barnes' shot was well saved by Ipswich goalkeeper Tomas Holy.
Ipswich started the second half strongly, and they equalised in the 55th minute when Woolfenden converted a penalty after he was fouled by Leicester defender Jannik Vestergaard.
The Tractor Boys continued to push for a winner, but they were unable to find a way past the Leicester defence. Leicester also had chances to win the game, but they were denied by some excellent saves from Holy.
In the end, both teams had to settle for a point, which leaves Ipswich in 16th place in the Championship table and Leicester in 12th.
