As an Irishman living in Ukraine, I've witnessed firsthand the horrors of war and the resilience of the Ukrainian people.
When the conflict began, I was living in Kyiv, the capital. The city was under constant bombardment, and I could hear the explosions from my apartment. I was terrified, but I knew I had to stay strong for my Ukrainian friends and colleagues.
I volunteered at a local hospital, helping to care for the wounded. I saw people who had lost their homes, their families, and their limbs. But despite the pain and suffering, they never gave up hope.
One day, I was working in the hospital when a young boy was brought in. He had been shot in the leg, and he was in a lot of pain. I held his hand and talked to him, trying to calm him down. He told me his name was Andriy, and he was only 10 years old.
Andriy's story is just one of many that I have heard during my time in Ukraine. The Ukrainian people are some of the strongest and most resilient people I have ever met. They have endured unimaginable suffering, but they have never lost their spirit.
I am proud to call myself an Irishman Ukraine. I am here to support the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom and independence. I will never forget the horrors that I have seen, but I will also never forget the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
If you are reading this, I urge you to do what you can to help the Ukrainian people. Donate to charities, support Ukrainian businesses, and spread the word about the war. Together, we can make a difference.
