There was no answer. Jahaleel waited for a moment, but the eyes were gone. He took a deep breath and sat back down. He told himself it was just his imagination, and nothing was in the room with him. Not the clown that peeked around the corner of the hall, or the dragon who he heard was lurking in the closet.
But Jahaleel couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. He got up and turned on all the lights in the house. Then he went back to the living room and sat down on the couch again.
This time, he didn't see or hear anything strange. He started to relax and enjoy the fire.
Soon, Jahaleel started to get sleepy. He yawned and closed his eyes. He began to dream of all the wonderful places he would go on his adventure.
Suddenly, Jahaleel felt a cold hand on his shoulder. He opened his eyes and saw a pale face floating in front of him. Jahaleel screamed and fell off the couch.
The pale face disappeared, and Jahaleel was left alone in the dark. He got to his feet and ran upstairs to his bedroom. He jumped into bed and pulled the covers over his head.
Jahaleel lay in bed, shivering with fear. He couldn't believe what he had seen. He knew that he would never forget his nightmare adventure. But it had been an adventure with a lot of twists and turns.
Realizing he was safe in his bed, Jahaleel drifted off to sleep. He knew that he would have many more adventures in his life, but he hoped that they would all be as exciting as his nighttime adventure.
