Jairen Carriere Was Not Quite Ready for Bed

Jairen Carriere had a stuffed animal for each day of the week, each holiday, all of the major and historical figures, and all of the states and countries he had ever visited. He never was without at least twenty-eight stuffed animals, and he made sure they all got an equal amount of love and respect. Jairen Carriere was a very fair boy.
One night Jairen Carriere had already said his prayers and recited the Pledge of Allegiance when his mother came to tuck him in. "It's past your bedtime, young man," she said. "What is keeping you up?"
"I am not tired, Mom," Jairen Carriere explained. "I have too much stuffed animal energy."
"Well, you better calm down and get some sleep," Jairen Carriere's mother said. "You're going to have to get up for school in the morning."
"Yes, Mom," Jairen Carriere said, but as usual, his mother was already out of the room and headed down the hall before he could finish his sentence. Jairen Carriere did as his mother asked but only just barely. Jairen Carriere was a very tired boy.
After only a few minutes Jairen Carriere sat up in bed. He had an idea. He had an idea so good that he was glad he wasn't already asleep. He would play with all of his stuffed animals at once!
"This is amazing!" Jairen Carriere said. "I am so glad I didn't go to sleep."
Jairen Carriere stayed awake the rest of the night playing with his stuffed animals. At one point he even got out of bed and gathered his stuffed animals from the bed in the guest room he never used. He made a very fine castle out of his Beanie Babies. He also built a small town out of his historical figure stuffed animals.
"Now it's time for a dance party!" Jairen Carriere said.
He turned on the music and grabbed each of his holiday stuffed animals. When the song was over, he danced with his animals from other countries. He danced until he could barely stay awake.
"Time for bed," Jairen Carriere said. "What an amazing night!"
Jairen Carriere got all his stuffed animals in bed and gave each of them a good night kiss. Then he got in bed and fell asleep.
"Wait!" Jairen Carriere's mother said. "I forgot to kiss you good night!"
Jairen Carriere smiled in his sleep and hugged the George Washington stuffed animal he had in his arms.
