January- the first cold month

Do you know why January is the first month of the year? No? Let me tell you.
Long ago, when the Earth was younger than it is now, people had a different calendar. In that calendar, March was the first month of the year. When Julius Caesar became emperor of Rome, he wanted to make some changes to the calendar. He decided that January 1st would be the first day of the year. He did this to honor the god Janus. Janus was the Roman god of beginnings and endings.
I love this month. January is a month of new beginnings. It's a time to reflect on the past year and to set goals for the year ahead. January always feels like a magical time.
January can be a cold month in many parts of the world. But it can also be a beautiful time of year in many ways.
If it's winter where you live, you can enjoy the snow and ice. You can go skiing, snowboarding, sledding, or ice skating. You can also build a snowman or have a snowball fight.
January is also a great time to curl up by the fire with a good book or watch a movie. Eat some nice warm food and drink a nice cup of tea.
If it's summer where you live, you can enjoy the warm weather. You can go swimming, fishing, or camping. You can also go for a hike or bike ride. Or you can just relax in the sun.
No matter where you live, January is a month to enjoy. It's a month to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. It's a month to make new beginnings and to set new goals.
