JD Souther: A Personal Reflection
I would love to tell you something about JD Souther: JD Souther is an American singer-songwriter who has written and co-written songs recorded by Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, and the Eagles, among others. He has also acted in several films and television series and has written or co-written the soundtracks for several films.
I first became aware of JD Souther in the early 1970s when I heard his song "You're Only Lonely" on the radio. I was immediately drawn to his unique voice and his beautiful, haunting melodies. I soon learned that he had written or co-written some of my favorite songs, including "Best of My Love," "New Kid in Town," and "Heartache Tonight."
I have been a fan of JD Souther's music for over 40 years, and I have seen him perform live several times. He is a gifted songwriter and a talented performer. His songs are often about love, loss, and redemption, and they are always delivered with a sense of honesty and vulnerability.
I had the pleasure of meeting JD Souther briefly after a concert a few years ago. He was kind and gracious, and he took the time to sign my copy of his album "Home by Dawn." I will always cherish that album, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have met the man who wrote and sang some of my favorite songs.
In addition to his musical career, JD Souther has also been involved in a number of philanthropic endeavors. He is a supporter of the American Red Cross, the Humane Society, and the Rainforest Alliance. He has also worked to raise awareness of the plight of homeless people.
I am proud to call JD Souther a friend, and I am grateful for his contributions to music and to society. He is a true American treasure.
