Jennifer Carroll MacNeill is an American politician and businesswoman who has served as the 11th Lieutenant Governor of Florida since 2023. She is the first woman and the first African American to hold the position in Florida's history.
A graduate of Florida A&M University, Carroll MacNeill began her career in public service as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2022. During her time in the House, she held leadership positions on the Appropriations Committee and the Economic Development & Tourism Committee.
Early Life and Career
Carroll MacNeill was raised in a modest home in Sanford, Florida, by her mother, a single parent. She credits her mother's hard work and determination for inspiring her own ambitions.
"I watched my mom work multiple jobs to provide for us," Carroll MacNeill once said. "Her unwavering spirit taught me that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible."
After graduating from high school, she earned a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in economic development from Florida A&M University. She then went on to study law at Howard University before returning to Florida to start her own business, the Carroll Group, a consulting firm that specializes in economic development and government relations.
