In a recent interview with The Guardian, Nelson said that she never felt beautiful enough to be in Little Mix. She said that she was constantly comparing herself to her bandmates and felt like she was the least talented one.
"I remember thinking, 'I'm never going to be as pretty as Perrie [Edwards]. I'm never going to be as skinny as Leigh-Anne [Pinnock]. I'm never going to be as confident as Jade [Thirlwall]'," Nelson said.
Nelson said that her insecurities led her to develop an eating disorder. She said that she would often binge eat and then purge, and that she would sometimes go days without eating.
"I was so ashamed of my body," Nelson said. "I didn't want anyone to see me naked. I didn't want anyone to touch me. I just wanted to disappear."
Nelson said that she finally sought help for her eating disorder in 2019. She said that she is now in recovery and that she is much happier and healthier than she was before.
"I'm so glad that I finally got help," Nelson said. "I'm so much happier and healthier now. I finally feel like I'm good enough."
Nelson's story is an important reminder that body image issues can affect anyone, regardless of their age, size, or profession. It's also a reminder that it is possible to overcome these issues and live a happy and healthy life.
