John Cleese
John Marwood Cleese, CBE (born October 27, 1939) is an English actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He is best known for his work with Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, A Fish Called Wanda, and Shrek.
Cleese was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. He attended Clifton College and then Cambridge University, where he studied law. After graduating, he worked as a barrister for a short time before turning to comedy.
Cleese joined Monty Python in 1969. The group's comedy sketches and films were known for their surreal humor and satire. Cleese played a variety of characters in Monty Python, including the "silly walks" man, the "dead parrot" man, and the "Ministry of Silly Walks" official.
