When I first met Johnnathon Astoaga in 2023, one of the first things I noticed was his intense focus on his phone. He was always scrolling, swiping, and typing away, as if his life depended on it. But one day, all that changed.
It was a beautiful summer day, and Johnnathon and I were enjoying a picnic in the park. As we sat there, chatting and eating, Johnnathon suddenly exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, I can't believe I did that!"
I looked up at him, startled. "What did you do?" I asked.
"I forgot how to use my phone!" he said, a look of panic spreading across his face. "I don't know how to turn it on! I don't know how to check my messages! I don't know how to do anything!"
I burst out laughing. "Johnnathon, you're kidding, right?"
"I'm not kidding!" he insisted. "I'm serious. My brain has just completely blanked on me."
I couldn't help but chuckle. "Well, it's not the end of the world. I can teach you how to use your phone again."
So, there I was, in the middle of the park, giving Johnnathon Astoaga a basic tutorial on how to use his phone. It was a strange and surreal experience, but I couldn't help but find it amusing. And Johnnathon, to his credit, was a surprisingly good student. Within minutes, he had regained his ability to turn his phone on, check his messages, and even play a game or two.
As we packed up our picnic and headed home, Johnnathon looked at me with a newfound appreciation. "Thank you, thank you, thank you," he said. "I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually glad I forgot how to use my phone. It's been a great reminder that there's more to life than screens."
And with that, the phone-less Johnnathon Astoaga walked away, a happy and enlightened man. As for me, I couldn't help but smile. It had been a strange and unexpected day, but it had also been a day filled with laughter, friendship, and a gentle reminder of the importance of living in the present.
