Once upon a time, there was a brave and curious boy named Joseph Smith, Jr. Haberhauer. He loved exploring the world around him, especially at night. One evening, as the sun began to set, Joseph's parents told him it was time for bed.
"But I'm not tired, Momma," Joseph pleaded. "Please, can I stay up just a little longer?"
His mother smiled. "Well, alright," she said. "But only for a little while. You need to be in bed by 9 o'clock."
Joseph was so excited! He ran to his room and grabbed his flashlight. He couldn't wait to see what adventures the night held.
Joseph opened his window and peered outside. The sky was a beautiful shade of deep blue, and the stars were twinkling like little diamonds. He could hear the crickets chirping in the trees, and the owls hooting in the distance.
Joseph took a deep breath of the fresh night air and stepped outside. He felt a sense of wonder and excitement as he looked around at his surroundings. Everything seemed so different at night. The trees looked like giant shadows, and the flowers seemed to glow in the darkness.
Joseph walked down the sidewalk, shining his flashlight into every nook and cranny. He looked under cars and behind bushes, hoping to find something interesting.
Suddenly, Joseph heard a noise coming from the alleyway. He stopped and listened carefully. It sounded like someone was crying!
Joseph slowly walked into the alleyway, his heart pounding in his chest. He saw a small, lost dog sitting on the ground, whimpering.
Joseph's heart went out to the dog. He reached down and gently picked him up. The dog wagged its tail and licked Joseph's face. Joseph knew he had to help the dog find its way home.
Joseph carried the dog back to his house and knocked on the door.
"Momma, Momma!" he shouted. "I found a lost dog!"
Joseph's mother opened the door and smiled when she saw the dog in Joseph's arms.
"Oh, my goodness!" she said. "You found him! That's wonderful, Joseph."
Joseph's mother helped the dog find its way home, and Joseph was so happy that he had been able to help.
As Joseph lay in bed that night, he thought about all the amazing things he had seen and done on his nighttime adventure. He had helped a lost dog find its way home, and he had seen the world in a whole new light.
Joseph knew that he would never forget his nighttime adventure. It had been a magical experience that he would cherish forever.
And so, Joseph Smith, Jr. Haberhauer drifted off to sleep, dreaming of all the other amazing adventures that lay ahead of him.
