Decor and layout

Yes, we'll be doing it in the same grotty lounge setting as usual. And while we don't want to make it too fancy, are there things we can do that would make people feel more at home? Are you a talented interior designer of the future, bursting with groovy ideas that will transform our room into a palace of glittering wonder?

Artwork

We need good publicity that looks attractive. One of your skills? Are you a photographer or an artist or a graphic designer?

Video

One thing we'd love to do, to bring real experiences from genuine people into play, would be to record your story (or a ninety-second bit of it) to play as part of the evening. This could be on video, or on MP3 without a camera staring up your nostrils - or maybe a compromise: a soundtrack in which you say your piece or answer questions, and some still pictures over the top, showing you walking along a road, having fun with friends, staring into the sunset looking romantic and mysterious... whatever you like.

What, video again? Yes, because we also need people to make the videos - camera skills? Editing experience? If you don't want to be in front of the camera, how about getting behind it?

Reminder texts/e-mails

We'll send out a reminder to every guest, every week, to jog their memory about coming on Sunday.  You could be the person who sends those out and keeps that part of the admin in order. A small job? Yes, but judging from previous experience, it can more than double the number of people that actually turns up.

(If you want a bigger job, sign up to run the Just Looking Twitter feed... We can supply you with lots of tweets, you just have to put them up there...)

Another admin job could be: handling the requests for fact sheets and literature which are going to come in. There will be a few people to contact each week, giving them the secret URL online where they can find the resources they've requested. This could be dead important too, but is a job that could be done in five minutes over a hot chocolate in Boston's.
