Juventus vs Venezia: the heavens open

Well, there was no shortage of drama when Juventus and Venezia faced off at the Allianz Stadium, with a late penalty from Dušan Vlahović rescuing a point for the home side in a pulsating 2-2 draw.
The match got off to a lively start, with both teams looking to take the initiative. Juventus, spurred on by a roaring home crowd, dominated possession and created several chances, but they were unable to find a way past Venezia's resolute defense.
Venezia, however, showed no fear against their illustrious opponents and defended stoutly, while also causing problems on the counter-attack. They took a shock lead in the 19th minute when Federico Gatti headed home from a corner, sending the away fans into raptures.
Juventus responded well to the setback and piled on the pressure, but they were unable to find an equalizer before the break. The second half saw more of the same, with Juventus probing for an opening and Venezia looking to exploit the space in behind.
In the end, it was Venezia who struck next, with Jay Idzes nodding home from close range in the 61st minute. The home crowd was stunned, but Juventus refused to give up. They threw everything at Venezia in the closing stages, and their persistence was rewarded in the dying seconds of the game when Vlahović coolly slotted home from the spot after Leonardo Bonucci had been fouled in the box.
The draw leaves Juventus in fourth place in the Serie A table, while Venezia remain rooted to the bottom of the standings. However, the performance of the newly-promoted side will give them great encouragement, and they will be confident of causing more problems for their illustrious opponents in the future.
