*Kaviyoor Ponnamma* (10 September 1945 – 20 September 2024) was an Indian actress who appeared in Malayalam films and television. She began her career with performances in theatre dramas before foraying into cinema. She also acted in TV serials and commercials and had playback singing credits in few films.
Ponnamma was born in Kaviyoor, Thiruvalla, Travancore, India. She began her acting career in the early 1970s with a small role in the film Olavum Theeravum. She went on to appear in over 500 films, including some of the most popular Malayalam films of all time, such as Kireedam (1989), Ulladakkam (1991), Nandanam (2002), and Sandesam (2002).
Ponnamma was known for her versatility as an actress, playing a wide range of roles from the comedic to the dramatic. She was particularly adept at playing motherly roles, and her performances in films such as Kireedam and Nandanam are considered to be among her best work.
In addition to her film career, Ponnamma also appeared in a number of television series and commercials. She was also a playback singer, and she sang several songs for films and television shows.
Ponnamma died in Kochi, India, on 20 September 2024, at the age of 79. She is survived by her daughter, Bindhu Maniswami.
