Koko Pimentel




Aquilino Martin "Koko" de la Llana Pimentel III is a Filipino politician and lawyer who is the current President of the Philippine Senate. He is a member of the PDP-Laban party and has been a Senator since 2011.

Pimentel was born in Cagayan de Oro City on January 20, 1964. He is the son of former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr. and Lourdes dela Llana Pimentel. He graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in philosophy and from the University of the Philippines College of Law with a degree in law.

Pimentel began his political career in 1998 when he was elected to the Cagayan de Oro City Council. He served as a city councilor for nine years before being elected to the House of Representatives in 2007.

In 2011, Pimentel ran for the Senate and was elected. He was re-elected in 2016. In 2018, he was elected as the Senate President, succeeding Senator Vicente Sotto III.

Pimentel is a controversial figure in Philippine politics. He has been accused of corruption and of being too close to the current administration. He has also been criticized for his handling of the Senate investigation into the extrajudicial killings of suspected drug dealers.

Despite the controversies, Pimentel remains a popular figure in Philippine politics. He is seen as a potential presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.
