has been a proud member of the Cleco Corporate Holdings family of companies since 1948.
We are committed to providing our customers with reliable, affordable electricity and excellent customer service. KPLC has been operating on the principle of keeping energy prices low for our customers. Their motto has been "Keeping the Lights On". That has been tested to the limits over the last few years with hurricanes, floods, and the pandemic. In Louisiana, we are unfortunately used to hurricanes and tropical systems, but the pandemic was a new test that threw our team a curveball. Now we have inflation and a war in Ukraine leading to increases in materials. We will continue to fight to keep our prices low for our customers.
KPLC was founded in 1924 by a group of local businessmen who wanted to provide electricity to the growing community of Kaplan. The company's first power plant was a small diesel generator that provided electricity to a few hundred homes and businesses. Over the years, KPLC has grown significantly, and today it is one of the largest electric utilities in Louisiana.
