Labour Day Kenya

On May 1st, Kenya joins the world in commemorating Labour Day, a day dedicated to honoring the contributions and sacrifices of workers across all sectors.

As we take a moment to appreciate their tireless efforts, let us also reflect on the progress we have made and the challenges that lie ahead.

Throughout history, workers have fought for better wages, working conditions, and social justice. Their struggles have shaped our nation and the world we live in today.

In Kenya, Labour Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our forefathers in the fight for independence and the establishment of a more equitable society.

My grandfather, a former railway worker, would often recount the arduous conditions he endured during his time. His stories of long hours, meager pay, and dangerous tasks instilled in me a deep appreciation for the rights we often take for granted.
