Lance Barber
You may not know who Lance Barber is, and that's okay. But if you're a fan of the show *The Good Place*, then you've seen his face. He plays the hapless yet lovable demon, Glenn. But Lance Barber is more than just a funny actor; he's also a talented musician and writer. In fact, he wrote the song "Everything Is Awesome!!!" for the movie *The Lego Movie*. If you want to learn more about this multi-faceted artist, then read on.
I first met Lance Barber at a party in Los Angeles. A mutual friend introduced us, and we started talking about music. It turned out that we had a lot in common. We both loved old-school soul music, and we both had a passion for writing songs. We talked for hours that night, and I knew that I had made a new friend.
Over the years, I've gotten to know Lance better, and I've come to appreciate his many talents. He's a gifted actor, a talented musician, and a funny writer. But what I admire most about Lance is his generosity of spirit. He's always willing to help others, and he always puts others before himself.
I recently had the opportunity to interview Lance for my blog, *The Creative Life*. We talked about his career, his creative process, and his advice for other artists. Here are some of the highlights from our conversation:
On his acting career:
"I've been lucky to work with some amazing people in my career. I've learned so much from them, and I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've been given."
On his creative process:
"I don't have a specific creative process. Sometimes I get an idea for a song, and I just start writing. Other times, I'll start with a chord progression or a melody. I just let the ideas flow, and I see where they take me."
On his advice for other artists:
"Don't be afraid to be yourself. There's only one you, and that's what makes you special. Don't try to copy someone else's style. Just be true to yourself, and your work will shine through."
Lance Barber is a true artist. He's not afraid to be himself, and he's not afraid to pursue his dreams. He's an inspiration to all of us who are trying to live a creative life.
I encourage you to check out Lance's work. You can find his music on iTunes and Spotify, and you can watch him on *The Good Place* on NBC. I know you'll be impressed by his talent and his generosity of spirit.
