Leo Varadkar




Leo Varadkar is a politician who has served as Taoiseach of Ireland since 2017. He is the leader of Fine Gael and has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for Dublin West since 2007.

Varadkar was born in Dublin in 1979. He is the son of Ashok Varadkar, an Indian doctor, and Miriam Varadkar, an Irish nurse. Varadkar has two older sisters, Sophie and Sonia.


Varadkar was educated at Trinity College Dublin, where he studied medicine. He graduated in 2003 and worked as a doctor for several years before entering politics.
