From Humble Beginnings to Political Heights

However, Low was undeterred. He campaigned tirelessly, going door-to-door and engaging with voters on a personal level.

In 2006, he led the WP to a historic victory in the Aljunied Group Representation Constituency (GRC), becoming the first opposition politician to win a GRC since Singapore's independence in 1965. This victory sent shockwaves through the political establishment and marked a turning point in Singapore's political history.

Low's leadership of the WP was not without its challenges. He faced numerous lawsuits and was targeted by the government-controlled media. Despite these setbacks, Low remained steadfast in his commitment to democracy and accountability.

Low served as the leader of the WP for 12 years, during which time he played a pivotal role in shaping Singapore's political landscape. He was known for his wit, intelligence, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Low retired from politics in 2018, but his legacy continues to inspire generations of Singaporeans.
