Beneficial Data About Parti Poodles
Canine breeds are often subdivided into smaller groups that focus on certain differences of the dogs. The classifications are usually due to things such as special abilities, slight physical changes, size, or even patterns and colors.
Parti poodles are one such subset that is given a separate title due to unique features.
What sets these dogs apart from others of their breed are the very specific features of their coats. Their fur is still the same corded or curly textures and styles that are typical of their kind, only in two colors. Although Mismarked, Abstract and Tuxedo are also multi toned, there are key aspects that distinguish them from one another.
Black, white, blue, red, silver, gray, cream, apricot, brown and cafe' au lait are all colors that are typical of this breed, especially in monotone dogs. Any of these can appear as part of the fur of the multiple colored groups. It is the way they show up and the patterns are key, though the pup might change their coats as they mature.
To be part of this category, the dog may be of any size though their coat will still need to meet some stringent requirements. The first thing is that more than fifty percent of the fur must be unmarred white. The rest is made up of random and irregular splotches of any of the other colors and may be anywhere on the body.
If the dog has been bred well, the white will be crisp and clean with no colored markings of any kind at all. The secondary tone will be confined within its area and will have sharply defined boundaries. There should be no fading or blending between the sections, giving them a pristine appearance.
Determining whether or not a puppy belongs to this group may not be easy to do for several months. This is because this breed has a common trait of changing color, sometimes multiple times, during the time between birth and maturation. No dogs are of this type are ever identical, and while they may be born to solid parents, only the pairing of two of this group can guarantee similar pups.
Members in this group might possibly be identified early on if instead of a single skin tone over their whole body, they display differently pigmented flesh beneath areas of coloring on the coat. A dominant trait of this breed is ticking, black spots that randomly appear on strands of fur, and while most of the dogs have it, those of this subset can not have any present on the white sections. In an effort to minimize this type of marring, breeders often avoid using dams or sires who strongly display this feature.
Although very attractive, this group is not allowed to participate in the AKC's conformation events. However, because they do share the breed's behavioral characteristics and other innate traits, they may be registered under color numbers and participate in competitions based on obedience and agility. Their intelligence, gentleness and loving attitude are just a few of their desirable qualities.
