Selamat Hari Merdeka, everybody!
It's that time of year again where we celebrate the day Malaysia gained its independence from British colonial rule. It's a day to remember the perjuangan (struggle) of our forefathers who fought for our freedom, and to be grateful for the peace and prosperity we enjoy today.
I always get a little bit choked up on Merdeka Day. It's such a special day for our country, and it's a day to reflect on how far we've come.
When I was a kid, I used to love watching the Merdeka parade on TV. I would always be so excited to see the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag) waving in the wind, and to hear the people singing the Negaraku (national anthem).
I remember one year, I was so excited to watch the parade that I got up at 5am and sat in front of the TV. My parents were still sleeping, but I didn't care. I just wanted to be the first one to see the parade.
As I watched the parade, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in my country. I was so proud to be a Malaysian, and I was so grateful for the freedom that we have.
As I got older, I started to understand more about the history of Malaysia, and the perjuangan of our forefathers. I learned about the sacrifices that they made, and the challenges that they faced.
I also learned about the importance of unity and harmony in our country. Malaysia is a multiracial, multicultural society, and it's important that we all work together to build a better future for our country.
On Merdeka Day, we celebrate the independence of our country, but we also celebrate the diversity that makes Malaysia so special.
So let's all join hands and sing our Negaraku with pride. Let's all work together to build a better future for Malaysia.
Selamat Hari Merdeka!
