Malzie is one of the most organized and punctual people I know. She's the type of person who plans her outfits the night before and has her meals prepped for the week. So, when she called me in a panic, I knew something serious must have happened.
"I'm going to be late for work!" she exclaimed. "My car won't start and I can't find my keys!"I tried to calm her down and help her think through the situation. We went through her purse, checked under the couch, and even looked in the fridge (just in case). But those keys were nowhere to be found.
As if the missing keys weren't enough, Malzie then realized that she had left her laptop at home. She was starting to get really stressed, and I could tell she was on the verge of tears.
"Oh my gosh, this is a disaster!" she cried. "I have a big presentation this morning and I don't have my laptop!"Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, Malzie's phone started ringing. It was her boss, who was wondering where she was.
With no keys, no laptop, and no time to spare, Malzie was starting to feel desperate. But then, she had an idea.
"I'll call a taxi!" she exclaimed. "But first, I need some coffee."Malzie raced into the kitchen and fumbled for the coffee maker. She poured herself a cup and took a sip.
Malzie pointed to the coffee pot. "The keys!" she cried. "They were in the coffee pot!"
I couldn't help but laugh along with her. We had been so focused on finding the keys in obvious places that we had completely overlooked the most unlikely spot.
With the keys in hand, Malzie raced out the door and jumped into a taxi. She arrived at work just in time for her presentation, and everything went off without a hitch.
As for the uncooperative candles, they remained a mystery. But Malzie didn't mind. She was just happy to have her keys back and to have made it to work on time.
