Man City vs Copenhagen: Dominant display sees City ease to victory in Champions League opener

Manchester City began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over FC Copenhagen at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring for City in the seventh minute with a clinical finish from close range, and Phil Foden doubled the lead just three minutes later with a stunning strike from outside the box.

City continued to dominate proceedings, and David Silva added a third goal in the 21st minute with a delightful chip over the Copenhagen goalkeeper.

Riyad Mahrez then made it 4-0 just before half-time with a well-taken free-kick, and Julian Alvarez completed the rout in the second half with a close-range finish.

The result was never in doubt as City controlled the game from start to finish. Copenhagen offered little threat to Pep Guardiola's side, who were simply too strong and clinical on the night.

The victory sees City move to the top of Group G, while Copenhagen are bottom of the group after their heavy defeat.
