Man United vs Barnsley: Erik ten Hag's men march on in the Carabao Cup

Manchester United booked their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 win over Barnsley at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Erik ten Hag's side were in control from the start and took the lead in the 16th minute when Marcus Rashford fired home from the edge of the area.

Anthony Martial doubled the lead just before half-time with a cool finish from close range, and Fred wrapped up the victory with a third goal in the 63rd minute.

The win was a welcome boost for Ten Hag, who has come under pressure in recent weeks following a poor start to the season.

It was also a good night for Rashford, who scored his first goal of the season and was a constant threat to the Barnsley defence.

Barnsley, who are managed by former United defender Michael Brown, gave a good account of themselves but were ultimately outclassed by their Premier League opponents.

The Tykes will now turn their attention to their next match, which is a League One clash with Port Vale on Saturday.

United, meanwhile, will host Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday before travelling to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday.
