Is Martin Heydon an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Kildare South constituency since 2011. He served as Minister of State for Housing, Local Government and Heritage from 2020 to 2022.
Heydon was born in Naas, County Kildare, in 1973. He was educated at Naas CBS and Trinity College Dublin, where he studied law. After graduating, he worked as a solicitor in Naas before entering politics.
Heydon was first elected to Kildare County Council in 2009. He was elected to the Dáil in 2011, and was re-elected in 2016 and 2020. He served as Leas-Cheann Comhairle (Deputy Chairperson) of the Dáil from 2016 to 2020.
In 2020, Heydon was appointed Minister of State for Housing, Local Government and Heritage. In this role, he was responsible for a number of key policy areas, including housing, planning, and local government reform.
Heydon is a member of the Fine Gael party. He is a conservative politician who supports traditional values and free markets. He is also a strong advocate for rural Ireland.
Heydon is married with two children. He is a keen sports fan, and enjoys playing golf and Gaelic football.
