I've always been a skeptic. I don't believe in ghosts, I don't believe in astrology, and I certainly don't believe in miracles. But then I met McKaylie Wettstein, and everything changed.
McKaylie Wettstein was born with a rare genetic disorder called spinal muscular atrophy. This disorder causes progressive muscle weakness, and it was expected that McKaylie would never be able to walk or breathe on her own. But Mckaylie Wettstein was not one to be defined by her limitations.
From the moment she was born, McKaylie showed a fighting spirit that belied her tiny body. She defied the odds and learned to walk, albeit with the help of leg braces. She also learned to breathe on her own, although she still needed assistance from a ventilator at night.
As McKaylie grew older, her determination only grew stronger. She was an excellent student, and she loved to dance, play the piano, and sing. She also had a passion for helping others, and she volunteered her time at a local hospital.
McKaylie's story is an inspiration to everyone who has ever been told that they can't do something. It is a story about the power of the human spirit, and it is a story about the importance of never giving up on your dreams.
I am so grateful to have met McKaylie Wettstein. She has taught me that anything is possible if you have the courage to believe in yourself. She is a true miracle, and I am honored to call her my friend.
