McTominay

There was a time when Manchester United supporters wouldn't have dreamt of the day when Scott McTominay would be considered a key player for Manchester United. Now, axing him from the starting lineup is more dangerous than including him when out-of-form. Ten Hag chooses McSauce- The right decision
At least at the time of writing this, Manchester United had recorded 7 wins from their opening 7 Premier League fixtures; the first time such a feat has been achieved by the club since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson, who himself is a self-confessed admirer of McTominay. At the heart of that midfield, dictating the tempo with his disguised passes and winning the ball back with a combination of IQ and aggression, has been McTominay. The Scot, who has tended to divide opinion more than unite them, has finally found a manager who believes in him unconditionally.
It is important to note that at the time of McTominay's emergence, United were in a poor state. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer had just been sacked following a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool, and United found themselves floundering in 7th place. Without a world-class defensive midfielder, United were conceding goals for fun and failing to control matches on a consistent basis. Although McTominay had a few good performances, he was also a victim of United's poor form and was often singled out by fans and pundits for criticism. He was called rash in the tackle, poor in possession and clueless in his positioning.
Erik ten Hag's arrival should have, in theory, spelled the end for McTominay. Ten Hag was a modern coach who liked his midfielders to be technically excellent. McTominay, although defensively sound, was seen as the antithesis of what ten Hag would want in a midfielder. He lacked the range of passing, and his dribbling ability was near non-existent. Many expected him to be sold or loaned out, but ten Hag shocked everyone by not only keeping McTominay but giving him a prominent role in his team. It seems his trust has paid off, though.
This season, McTominay has been one of United's standout performers. He has been a key part of United's impressive defensive record, and he has also shown a willingness to get forward and support the attack. Against Liverpool, for example, McTominay was outstanding. He bossed the game in midfield and was a constant threat to Liverpool's defence. He has also been in impressive form in the Europa League, scoring a stunning goal against Omonia Nicosia.
McTominay's performances have not gone unnoticed. He has been praised by ten Hag, his teammates, and the pundits, many of whom have questioned whether he is now a world-class midfielder. He is certainly playing like one at the moment, and he is a big reason why United are challenging for the title this season.
Of course, McTominay is not perfect. He can still be rash in the tackle, and his passing can sometimes be wayward. But his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses, and he has become an indispensable member of this United team. He is a player who gives his all for the shirt, and he is a role model for the younger players in the squad.
It is still early days, but McTominay has the potential to become a United legend. He is a player who has never given up on his dream, and he is now reaping the rewards of his hard work. He is a shining example of what can be achieved with determination and self-belief.
