Missing boat Gisborne
It's been over a week since the boat went missing, and still there's no sign of it. The family and friends of the four people on board are starting to lose hope.
The boat was last seen leaving Gisborne Harbour on the evening of August 10th. It was headed for Napier, a journey that should have taken about two hours. But the boat never arrived.
A search and rescue operation was launched the next morning, but it was called off after three days. The four people on board are now presumed dead.
The missing people are:
* John Smith, 45, of Gisborne
* Mary Smith, 40, of Gisborne
* David Jones, 35, of Napier
* Sarah Jones, 30, of Napier
The Smiths and the Joneses were friends who had been planning a fishing trip for months. They left Gisborne Harbour at around 6pm on August 10th, in good weather conditions.
But the weather changed quickly that night. A storm blew in, with strong winds and heavy rain. The boat was likely caught in the storm and capsized.
The family and friends of the missing people are devastated. They are still trying to come to terms with the fact that their loved ones are gone.
"It's just so hard to believe that they're gone," said John Smith's mother, Mary. "They were such good people, and they didn't deserve this."
The search for the missing boat and its passengers has been called off, but the family and friends of the missing people are still hoping that they will be found.
"We just want to know what happened," said Mary Smith. "We need to know that they are safe."
The disappearance of the boat and its passengers is a tragedy. It is a reminder of the dangers of the sea, and the importance of being prepared when you go out on the water.
