Monté Morris

Monte Morris, the point guard for the Denver Nuggets, is a rising star in the NBA. He has quickly become a fan favorite, known for his incredible passing ability and court vision. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Morris' journey to the NBA was not an easy one.
His father was incarcerated for most of his childhood, and his mother worked multiple jobs to support the family. Despite the challenges he faced, Morris was determined to succeed. He excelled in basketball at Flint Beecher High School, leading the team to a state championship in 2013. Morris would surpass Flint Beecher High School’s all-time assist record.
Morris then went on to play college basketball at Iowa State University. He was a key member of the Cyclones' team that reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament in 2016. Morris was known for his slick ball-handling and ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates. He averaged 6.5 assists per game in his senior season.
Monte Morris was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He quickly made an impact on the team, averaging 4.1 assists per game in his rookie season. Morris became a full-time starter in the 2018-19 season and has averaged over 10 assists per game in each of the last three seasons. He is one of the most efficient passers in the NBA, ranking in the top 10 in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Morris is also a solid defender, known for his quick hands and ability to predict opponents' moves. He is a valuable asset to the Nuggets, a team that is contending for the NBA championship. Morris is a role model for young athletes everywhere, showing that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
When Monte was younger, his family’s home was foreclosed on before eventually being burned down; not once, but twice. Morris didn’t let it stop him. He became a two-time Iowa Mr. Basketball, and the 10th all-time leading scorer in Iowa high school basketball history. He then went on to lead the Cyclones to the NCAA Tournament for three seasons.
