NAIDOC: A Time to Celebrate and Reflect

NAIDOC, the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee, is a time to celebrate and reflect on the rich culture and history of the First Nations people of Australia. It's a week-long event that takes place in July and is a great opportunity for all Australians to learn more about the contributions of Indigenous people to our nation.
This year, NAIDOC Week runs from July 2 to July 9, and the theme is "Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!"
The "Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!" theme is a call to action for all Australians to learn about the history of Indigenous people in this country, to challenge racism, and to support Indigenous communities.
There are many ways to get involved in NAIDOC Week, including attending events, watching films, and reading books about Indigenous culture. You can also show your support by flying the Aboriginal flag, wearing Aboriginal artwork, or donating to an Indigenous organization.
Attending a NAIDOC event is a great way to learn more about Indigenous culture and to show your support for the community. There will be events happening all over the country, including markets, workshops, and performances.
Watching films and reading books about Indigenous culture is another great way to learn more about the history and experiences of First Nations people. There are many excellent resources available, including the films "Samson & Delilah" and "The Sapphires" and the books "The Secret River" by Kate Grenville and "My Place" by Sally Morgan.
