Niger State minimum wage

The Niger State Government has approved a new minimum wage of N80,000 for civil servants in the state, which is expected to take effect from November 2024.

The announcement was made by Governor Mohammed Bago, who said the new minimum wage was a result of the government's commitment to the welfare of its workers.

The N80,000 minimum wage is a significant increase from the current N30,000 minimum wage, which has been in place since 2019.

The new minimum wage is expected to benefit over 50,000 civil servants in the state.

The Niger State Government is the first state in the country to approve a new minimum wage, following the enactment of the new National Minimum Wage Act by President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2023.

The new National Minimum Wage Act sets a new minimum wage of N30,000 for workers in the country.

The Niger State Government is expected to release more details about the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state in the coming months.
